Since October 2000 the Marryat Players have performed concerts in the spring, summer and autumn of each year.
Each orchestral concert is the culmination of five days of intensive rehearsals at the orchestra's home in Marryat Road, Wimbledon Village, under the guidance of conductors Alexander Baillie, Tim Boulton, Matthias Feile, Robert Max and Leandro Silvera.
Supported by young professional musicians and music students, the 40 young musicians have played works from Bach to Bartok. The Marryat Players have also performed five new works written for them by composers Colin Alexander, Alexander Baillie, Max Baillie and Timothy Murray. The orchestra has worked with celebrated soloists including Nicola Benedetti, Alina Ibragimova and Piers Lane amongst many others.
More recently chamber music has been performed by the music students and young professionals of the orchestra, after a weekend of masterclasses by distinguished chamber musicians pianist Susan Tomes and violist Tim Boulton. In June 2015, to celebrate 15 years of Marryat Players concerts, the first Chamber Music Festival was held at 3 Marryat Road. The second Marryat Players Chamber Music Festival will be held in June this year.
