Soloist: Jamie Walton cello
Jamie Walton is establishing himself as one of today’s fast rising stars of the concert platform with performances that are gathering tremendous critical acclaim. His recording of the Chopin and Rachmaninov Sonatas (Somm label) was praised for his “playing of exciting, ardent personality, tonal lustre and finesse of rare quality”. It was subsequently chosen as one of the Top Ten CDs of 2002 in both the Birmingham Post and the Telegraph newspapers.
Jamie plays on a 1765 Guadagnini cello, which was acquired for him by a syndicate of supporters, headed by The Co-operative Bank.
